FAQs
What is Mortgage PreFlight?
Developed by Credit Technologies, Mortgage PreFlight is
the most safe and secure
method to pre-authorize access to your credit data for the
processing of a mortgage application. Mortgage PreFlight gives you
control over who has access to your confidential data and is the recommended
first step when searching for the best mortgage loan and terms.
Preflight also provides you valuable insight into information that will
be critical throughout the mortgage. Mortgage Preflight provides,
-
A secure method for you and
your lender to comply with various State and Federal laws
requiring the demonstration of permissible purpose and your specific
authorization prior to accessing your personal credit data.
-
Precise ID authentication
provides an additional level of protection against identity
theft.
-
FACTA Mandated disclosures
containing all three FICO™
scores - The same scores that will be utilized by your lender in
the mortgage process.
-
A
Credit Radar powered “check-list” of items your mortgage
professional will be reviewing in the lending process. Your
customized analysis will identify potential issues that might
need to be addressed and discover opportunities (often otherwise
hidden) that can result in better loan terms and lower costs.
-
A real-time, direct and secure
conduit with your mortgage
professional. Within seconds, your data is in the hands of your
lender allowing for an immediate review, response and
processing.
How do I know I can trust Mortgage Preflight with my personal
information?
The Mortgage Preflight system utilizes bank-level security including
128-bit SSL encryption. The Precise ID™
advanced authentication process verifies your identity before your
Preflight transaction is processed. Mortgage Preflight is designed, operated and maintained by Credit
Technologies, Inc. Serving clients
nationwide since 1990 and handling more than 15,000 secure transactions
daily for leading national banks, State and Federal governments - We're certified through, and obtain your records directly from the
three repositories (Experian, Trans Union and Equifax) with all
credit score data provided through FICO. For your protection, all
requests are encrypted prior to transmission and storage. In
addition, we process your credit card transaction directly through
our own merchant account, and any charges will appear on your credit
card statement as Credit Technologies, Inc.
How can I learn more about the mortgage
professionals participating in Mortgage Preflight?
Mortgage Preflight approved participating lenders include many of
the top national mortgage originators. All lenders go through a thorough
an intensive application and vetting
process including background checks with physical inspections prior
to inclusion in Mortgage Preflight. In addition, all banks &
credit unions are licensed and governed through the FDIC, NCUA, with
mortgage lenders, correspondents and brokers licensed through the
National Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS.) The NMLS
number of every PreFlight participant is located beside their name
and can be verified at
http://www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org/
Are these my “real” credit scores?
Every credit score provided by
Credit Technologies is a FICO score created by the Fair Isaac
Corporation. This is the credit score used by virtually every lender
in the mortgage industry and is the precise score that your lender
will use to determining your loan eligibility and terms.
Does Mortgage PreFlight provide me a copy of
my credit report?
No. While Mortgage PreFlight provides FACTA disclosures that include
all three FICO scores, It does not return a copy of your Experian,
Trans Union or Equifax credit file.
There are multiple ways to
obtain a copy of your credit report free of charge. Compliments of
the FACTA Act (FACTA),
all consumers are able to obtain copies of each of their credit
reports annually free of charge
through
AnnualCreditReport.com.
The tri-merge credit report and
FICO scores obtained by your lender through the Mortgage PreFlight
process contain data from Experian, Trans Union and Equifax -
specifically designed for the mortgage lending process.
We are buying jointly, but are unmarried
- Should I process my request as individual or joint?
The decision on whether to process a joint request or two individual
requests has nothing to do with marital status or matching last
names. It is decided by your current and/or prior addresses. If you
have both resided at the same address for at least the past 2 years,
you can process a joint request. If you both have not resided at the
same address for the past two years, you must process 2 individual
requests. This is due to limitations in the credit reporting system
that allow the processing of only one current and prior address per
request.
I didn't have access to a printer when I
placed my order. Can I get a copy?
Sure – You'll automatically receive
a paper copy of your Risk Based Pricing Disclosure Exception Notice,
and FACTA Consumer Score Disclosure including all of
your FICO scores and additional disclosure information in the mail. Your lender upon request, can also provide you a
copy of your Credit Radar analysis and full credit report, or you can request a copy
of your credit report directly
from Credit Technologies by writing to,
Consumer Disclosures
Credit Technologies, Inc.
50481 W. Pontiac Trail
Wixom, MI 48393
Please be sure to include your full
name, address, DOB and transaction ID (from your confirmation email)
and a copy of your government issued photo ID so we can quickly
process your request.
How much does it cost?
Mortgage PreFlight costs
vary based on your
lender's data requirements and whether an individual or joint file
is needed. The total cost is displayed on the order
confirmation screen for your approval prior to placing your order.
I'm not comfortable providing my
information online – Is there an alternative method?
Absolutely,
It's wise
to be careful about where and with whom you share confidential
information. The Mortgage Preflight system is a secure and encrypted
method of providing your lender specific authorization and access to
your credit data for the purposes of processing your mortgage loan.
Mortgage PreFlight eliminates the use of non-secure methods
previously used (i.e. phone, fax, email…) Should you prefer
not to provide your information via PreFlight, simply contact your
mortgage professional directly by phone or email using the contact
data displayed on the top of the Mortgage Preflight page.
What if I cannot correctly
answer the challenge questions? As part of our
commitment to protect your confidential information and to comply with
various State, Federal and repository regulations, we must be able
authenticate your identity before proceeding with the Mortgage
Preflight process. We verify your identity using a process called
Precise ID which generates a series of simple challenge questions
based on the identity information you have provided. Generally,
applicants are able to complete the multiple choice challenge
questions in less than 30 seconds. Should you encounter difficulties,
you may be asked to respond to a second set of challenge questions. If
you are unable to provide the required correct responses, we will be
unable to process your Mortgage PreFlight transaction online. No
inquiry into your credit report is made nor do you incur any charge on
the incomplete transaction. Should this occur,
you should contact your mortgage professional using the
provided phone or email address to proceed with your transaction.
I encountered an error when I placed my
order - What should I do?
We apologize for any delay or inconvenience in
processing your request. If an error was encountered, no charge to
your credit card, or access to your credit data has occurred. Often typos in your personal information or
credit card data are responsible for errors. The error message will,
if possible identify the source of the error. If a typo occurred,
simply use the back button to correct the error and resubmit your
request. Should we be unable to complete your request, you can
